It is heavier than a non-waterproof down jacket, but I love the performance and that I don't need to bring a rain shell with it. It breathes well, is warm, packs reasonably well, has great coverage (good hood, long sleeves and torso, good zippers, etc). The materials have been top notch and the Pertex Shield has exceeded my expectations with waterproofing, breathability and how thin and light it is. It has changed the way I pack for a lot of situations and it's been a great jacket.
