TS 30.3 Air Lines and FittingsAir lines, except necessary flexible lines, shall conform to the installation and material requirements of SAEStandard JI 149 for copper tubing with standard, brass, flared or ball sleeve fittings, or SAE Standard J844 for nylontubing if not subject to temperatures over 200 °F. The air on the delivery side of the compressor where it entersnylon housing shall not be above the maximum limits as stated in SAE J844. Nylon tubing shall be installed inaccordance with the following color-coding standards:Line supports shall prevent movement, flexing, tension, strain and vibration. Copper lines shall be supported toprevent the lines from touching one another or any component of the bus. To the extent practicable and beforeinstallation, the lines shall be pre-bent on a fixture that prevents tube flattening or excessive local strain. Copperlines shall be bent only once at any point, including pre-bending and installation. Rigid lines shall be supported atno more than 5ft intervals. Nylon lines may be grouped and shall be supported at 30 in. intervals or less. The compressor discharge line between powerplant and body-mounted equipment shall be flexible convolutedcopper, stainless-steel, or flexible Teflon hose with a braided stainless-steel jacket. Other lines necessary tomaintain system reliability shall be flexible Teflon hose with a braided stainless-steel jacket. End fittings shall bestandard SAE or JIC brass or steel, flanged, swivel-type fittings. Flexible hoses shall be as short as practicable andindividually supported. They shall not touch one another or any part of the bus except for the supportinggrommets. Flexible lines shall be supported at 2ft intervals or less.Air lines shall be clean before installation and shall be installed to minimize air leaks. All air lines shall be routed toprevent water traps to the extent possible. Grommets or insulated clamps shall protect the air lines at all pointswhere they pass through understructure components.TS 30.4 Air ReservoirsAll air reservoirs shall meet the requirements of FMVSS Standard 121 and SAE Standard J10 and shall be equippedwith drain plugs and guarded or flush type drain valves. Major structural members shall protect these valves and anyautomatic moisture ejector valves from road hazards. Reservoirs shall be sloped toward the drain valve. All airreservoirs shall have drain valves that discharge below floor level with lines routed to eliminate the possibility of watertraps and/or freezing in the drain line.
