According to the production requirements above, the control system is composed of operator station, engineer station and control station which based on SIMATIC PLC. The proposed hardware architecture of the control system for beer production process is illustrated in figure 3. As shown, the core of the control system structure is SIMATIC S7-414 PLC. Each controller controls a fermentation tank. Operator stations and engineer stations are connected to the beer production process via the fiber optic ring network. Host computer’s operator stations and engineer stations are mutually redundant between each other [9]. A database server is connected to the production process via the industrial Ethernet network for data recording. In the hardware structure of the control system for beer fermentation process, SIMATIC STEP7 is used as the programming software for lower computer PLC [10-11].
