The JTC is an iterative process that provides a framework to describe the required steps to conduct joint targeting. It provides the commander with a methodology linking objectives with effects. The targeting process provides a logical progression as an aid to decision making and ensures consistency with the commander’s objectives. While CA is formally Phase 6 of the JTC, CA coordination, management, and production occur throughout the cycle. The following paragraphs explain how CA fits into the JTC.
