3.1.4 X-Ray Diffraction StudiesWide angle X-ray diffraction patterns of the LIB fibers are shown in Figs. 5(a) and (b). No significant difference was observed with the change in the LIB position. The fibers spun at 1 km/min for both LIB 150 and LIB 200 showed a diffused halo which is indicative of the amorphous nature of the samples. The samples spun at take-up velocities of2 km/min and above showed patterns which is typical of anoriented crystalline structure as reflected in the density andbirefringence data.The crystallite size obtained from the (010) reflection ofstandard and LIB fibers are given in Table 1.
