All rhythm patterns in the usual duple, usual triple, usual combined, unusual paired, unusual unpaired, unusual paired intact, and unusual unpaired intact meter classifications are unimetric and unitemporal. In elemental music, meter and tempo usually remain the same throughout. More elaborate music can be unimetric but not unitemporal. For example, it may remain in usual duple meter but include a tempo change from slow to fast. Also, music can be unitemporal but not unimetric. For example, it may remain in the same tempo but include a modulation from usual triple meter to usual duple meter. The seven classifications of rhythm patterns are notated in Table 15. As out- lined, all classifications share the same functions.
