Stem is a comprehensive education concept based on practical problem situation, driven by project activities and integrated with interdisciplinary knowledge to cultivate students' core literacy. The comprehensive thinking in the core literacy of geography is consistent with the interdisciplinary knowledge fusion concept of stem education. Taking the investigation and publicity of garbage classification in Sihong County as an example, this paper expounds the importance of comprehensive thinking in practical activities, and preliminarily discusses the strategy of cultivating practical ability of geography.<br>
