In conclusion, language teaching and learning, like any aspect of education, is continuously evolving. Comparing and contrasting the different methods assists teachers in gaining a better understanding of the various methods and application of these methods into the classroom environment. Considering the needs of the students is of upmost importance and generally a blended approach of both old and new methods will ensure success. Research has shown that “no single method can be used exclusively in the classroom” (Abu-Melhim, 2009, p.44). Language teachers should recognize this when determining their teaching methodology.
