The target population of most educational interventions were pregnant women, therefore revealing that these breastfeeding promotion activities began in the prenatal period. It was found, however, that only one study used, in one of its two interventions, a strategy that understand not only the woman, but other members of their social network (Forster et al. 2004). In addition, only one study involved members of the community where the nursing mothers lived, with a training course being held for their role in the promotion of breastfeeding.
