As an essential part of maintenance work, situation based maintenance interval is always a hot topic in the civil aviation industry. The development of inspection interval further directly affects the maintenance cost of airlines. However, the size of inspection interval is related to many factors. Under the condition that other factors remain unchanged, environmental factors affect the formulation of inspection interval by affecting the life distribution of components.
This paper first introduces the condition based maintenance and the reliability of components, and then analyzes the influence of environmental factors on interval design in detail. Based on the method of generating random fault data by programming simulation model, the process of making maintenance interval is simulated. According to the simulation results, the relationship among the three parameters of environment, inspection interval and failure rate is analyzed.
Through the model simulation, it is found that under the same security level, the greater the difference between the actual environment and the best environment, the smaller the inspection interval and the higher the maintenance cost. To some extent, this means that the environment of aircraft operation should be considered in maintenance.
