The platinum nanoparticles herein are reduced by hydrogen reduction in water at room temperature rather than by heating. Due to the different hydrophilicity/hydrophobicity of carbon nitride produced at different preparation temperatures (hydrophilic at 450 °C, hydrophobic at 550 °C and 650 °C), the dispersion in aqueous solution is different, resulting in inconsistent particle size.
