A luminaire comprising: a heat spre

A luminaire comprising: a heat spreader; a heat sink disposed around the heat spreader, the heat sink forming a trim plate configured to be disposed completely external of a can light fixture or an electrical junction box; an optic securely retained relative to one of the heat spreader and the heat sink on one side of a plane defined by a lower surface of the trim plate and extends to the other side of the plane defined by the lower surface of the trim plate; and a light source disposed on the heat spreader and comprising a plurality of light-emitting diodes (LEDs); wherein the plurality of LEDs are positioned entirely on one side of the plane defined by the lower surface of the trim plate; wherein the light source is in thermal communication with the heat spreader; and wherein the heat spreader is in thermal communication with the heat sink.
