The tension-compression asymmetryThe initial microstructures of the Fe40Co20Cr20Mn10Ni10HEA are shown in Fig. 1. The HEA exhibits a single FCCstructure based on EBSD phase map and XRD pattern,with an average grain size of ~40 µm (see Fig. 1a and b).ECC image in Fig. 1c shows the existence of annealingtwins in a fully recrystallized grain. The single FCCstructure is further confirmed by a high magnificationECC image (Fig. 1d), in which only very low density ofdislocations and SFs exist in this annealed HEA.Fig. 2 shows a dark field TEM image of a dissociateddislocation in a 1% pre-strained HEA. The separationdistance (d) of this partial dislocation and the angle (θ)between the Burgers vector and the dislocation line weremeasured from the image. Thus, the SFE can be calcu
