Our previous studies have shown that benzoic acid can not be directly intercalated into kaolinite, so it is necessary to choose potassium dimethyl sulfoxide as the precursor. On the other hand, high concentration of intercalation agent is proved to be beneficial to the intercalation reaction. Considering the actual cost and the intercalation effect, 1 mol / L is considered as the appropriate concentration. Therefore, on the basis of fully understanding the physical properties of benzoic acid, NaOH / H2O, DMF, CH3OH, EtOH and CH3CN were selected as solvents to prepare 1 mol / L benzoic acid solution. The best solvent was selected by comparing the intercalation effect of different solvents. The results of the above intercalation reactions are shown in Fig. 1.<br>
