[Abstract] Diabetic

Refinopathy (DR) is the most common complication of diabetes. Over the years, the research on its pathogenesis has mainly focused on the changes of retinal capillary microcirculation, and there are few studies on retinal nerve tissue. In the mid-1980s, scholars have proposed that the main pathogenesis of DR may not only be the retinal blood vessels themselves, but also have a closer relationship with neurons or glial tissues around the blood vessels. The neurons and/or glial of the retina may be particularly sensitive to the effects of long-term hyperglycemia, micro

[keywords] retinal ganglion cells; diabetes; retinopathy; apoptosis; neurotrophic factors
