The heat flux contour shown in Figure 6 is for the 20-knot (33.8 fps) ship speed. A query of the contourshows that the heat flux decreases with plate length, as classical theory would dictate. This is true for eachof the ship speeds contained in Table 1. Table 1 shows that the ANSYS results compare favorable withclassical heat transfer theory for all the ship speeds, especially those above 5 knots where the percentdifference decreases from 9% at 5 knots to 2.6% at 30 knots.
