2.3 POINT OF USE (POU) PACKAGING REQUIREMENTS2.3.1 POINT OF USE (POU) PACKAGING DEFINITIONBased on the product fragility level, point of use (POU) cleanroom packaging maybe required to protect the part from intra-plant distribution hazards. Point of use (POU) packaging would be double bags if the part is not fragile and the part integrity can be maintained in just double bagging. If the part is determined to be fragile, point of use (POU) packaging would be a rigid container such as plastic corrugated box, plastic tubes or thermoformed container with or without cushioning.POU packaging must pass the ISTA transit testing standards (section 6) for packages under 150 lbs. The benefits are as follows1. It assures that the primary protective packaging will stay intact throughout manufacturing and installation process2. The outer corrugated or wood transportation packaging can be removed upon receipt for storage with little risk of part damage3. The dimensional weight can be optimized, as additional cushioning or void fill is not requiredNOTE: All POU packaging must be cleanroom compatible.
