The principle of historical cost refers to the fact that the assets of an enterprise are measured at the actual cost or fair value of the price paid at the time of their purchase or construction, and that the liabilities are measured against the amount actually received as a result of assuming realistic obligations and are not adjusted for their value in subsequent periods.
