3.1 Objectives of the Study Reading teaching plays a very important role in English teaching, and it has drawn the intention of English teachers and researchers. The students’ reading ability improves so slowly. Reading ability is generally low, and it is a worrying fact. In order to change this situation, we need to know the use of English reading strategies of senior high school students. In order to provide "an antidote against the disease" to English teachers, cultivate and improve the students' reading ability, thus to enhance students' English level. The author divided main goal of this survey into the following several points: 1 What is the overall status of reading strategies used by the senior high school students? 2 What are the differences between good learners and poor learners in their use of reading strategies? 3 Do the same grade students in different schools have differences in their use of English reading strategies?
