This paper is based on some basic design parameters of the target vehicle to complete the design requirements of the rack and pinion steering gear. Firstly, a large number of data are collected to make a basic understanding of the basic function, structure and working performance of the rack and pinion steering gear. Based on the investigation and analysis of the development of the existing steering gear types in the world, this paper studies how to meet the design requirements with the lowest cost and up to standard performance. Through the comparison of the steering gear types, calculation of the original parameter formula, material selection and final verification, the steering gear design is completed.
