Peritoneal cancer index (PCI): PCI is a scoring system that quantifies theextent of PC indicating the summation of the lesion size in each one of the13 different abdominopelvic regions that the abdominal cavity is separated into. Depending on the size and dimension of the tumor each area israted on a scale of 0 to 3, so that the total score of PCI can vary between 0and 39. PCI predicts the likelihood of incomplete cytoreduction and hasalso been recognized as one of the most important prognostic indicatorsfor the long-term outcomes of colorectal PM patients. Many authorsdemonstrated that the greater the PCI score is, the worse the prognosis is[38, 67]. Based on results from aforementioned studies, PCI exceeding 20is considered as contraindication for CRS and HIPEC.
