Considering that the social support element is modifiable, strategies that strengthen the social network of women can be implemented to increase self-efficacy. Therefore, it is necessary that health professionals initially get to know the woman’s social network, identifying the individuals who make it up and the types of bond established between them to direct their interventions to promote breastfeeding.
