The automobile clutch is located in the flywheel housing between the engine and the gearbox. The clutch assembly is fixed on the rear plane of the flywheel with a force transfer pin. The output shaft of the clutch is the input shaft of the gearbox. In the process of driving, the driver can press or release the clutch pedal according to the need to temporarily separate and gradually engage the engine and the transmission, so as to cut off or transfer the power input from the engine to the transmission. Its functions are: (1) to make the car start smoothly; (2) to interrupt the power to the transmission system, with shift; (3) to prevent the transmission system overload.<br>Diaphragm spring clutch is a kind of clutch widely used in cars and light and heavy vehicles in recent years. Its torque capacity is large and stable, its operation is light, its balance is good, and it can be mass produced. The research on it has become more and more important. This paper mainly designs the diaphragm spring clutch of light truck. According to the service conditions and parameters of the vehicle, and according to the design steps and requirements of the clutch system, the following works are mainly carried out: the overall parameter design of the vehicle, the overall scheme and parameter selection of the clutch, the design of the pressure plate and the driven plate, the design and optimization of the diaphragm spring, and the design of the operating mechanism and the separation device.<br>This design focuses on the light truck single diaphragm spring clutch structure, parameter selection and the use of MATLAB optimization toolbox to optimize the diaphragm spring process. Using MATLAB software to design automobile friction plate and diaphragm spring, comparing the data before and after optimization, the overall size of clutch is reduced, and the performance of diaphragm spring is better; using AutoCAD to draw the two-dimensional diagram of clutch parts and assembly. The design can meet the use requirements of heavy trucks, and can also be used as a reference for the design of the same type of clutch.<br>
