3.4 STJLR.51.5392-A4 Part Suffix Identifier Code XD3.4.1 This specification covers the requirements for a water-based wax lubricant that can be adhered to metal surfaces. The applied coating provides a low coefficient of friction.3.4.2 Unless otherwise specified on the part drawing thread forming screws are normally coated from the point to a distance of 10 threads maximum. ISO metric threaded bolts shall be coated from the point for a distance of 8 to 10 full threads. No coating shall be present on any drive or bearing surfaces.3.4.3 This specification was released originally for a thread coating on seatbelt thread rolling screws to reduce the torque required to form the thread, but is not limited to this application.3.4.4 TEMPERATURE RESISTANCE: Coated fasteners shall withstand a temperature of 60 °C without melting or degradation of the lubricant.3.4.5 THREAD FORMING CAPABILITY: When applied to thread forming screws a mating thread must be formed by driving the sample screw into the test plate until a minimum of one pitch of the screw, excluding the tapered lead threads, extends beyond the plate. The axial load to ensure commencement of the thread forming process shall not exceed 20N. The test plate shall be of low carbon rolled steel having a hardness of 115 HV30 to 150 HV30. As an alternative to a test plate, unthreaded nuts may
