Moreover, the content of unsaturated fatty acid in cottonseed oil is high, especially the content of linoleic acid, which is beneficial to human cardiovascular health. It is a high-quality plant oil resource. However, due to the existence of gossypol in cottonseed, the comprehensive utilization of cottonseed is greatly limited. Gossypol and other sesquiterpene aldehydes were accumulated in glands, but gossypol was not found in the aboveground part of glandless cotton. Gland is the main organ of plant secondary metabolite synthesis and accumulation. The analysis of the molecular mechanism of cotton gland differentiation and formation can provide an important theoretical basis for the study of differentiation and development regulation of gland organs of other medicinal plants. In addition, it is of great economic benefit to improve the comprehensive utilization value of cottonseed by cultivating a new cotton germplasm with "plants with glands and seeds without glands", which can effectively remove gossypol from seeds, and retain gossypol from other tissues of the plant, and maintain the resistance of the plant to insects and diseases.<br>
