Common errors related to back pressure may occur during purging. Since the screw cannot normally recover at full back pressure, technicians sometimes reduce or completely change the back pressure when cleaning the machine. However, if the back pressure does not return to the set point, the machine usually produces many defects, especially color swirl. The solution to this problem is not to reduce the back pressure for purging, but a combination of screw rotation and decompression to construct the shot to the desired shot size. This failure mode will be eliminated if the technician always avoids falling pressure.<br>
