Service brakes shall be controlled and actuated by a compressed air system. Force to activate the brake pedal controlshall be an essentially linear function of the bus deceleration rate and shall not exceed 75 lbs at a point 7 in. above theheel point of the pedal to achieve maximum braking. The heel point is the location of the driver's heel when his or herfoot is rested flat on the pedal and the heel is touching the floor or heel pad of the pedal. The ECU for the ABSsystem shall be protected, yet in an accessible location to allow for ease of service. The total braking effort shall be distributed among all wheels in such a ratio as to ensure equal friction material wearrate at all wheel locations. Manufacturer shall demonstrate compliance by providing a copy of a thermodynamicbrake balance test upon request.
