Algorithmic management allows companies to oversee myriads of workers in an optimized manner at a large scale, but its impact on human workers and work practices has been largely unexplored. In recent years, the press and many scholars have brought attention to the importance of studying the sociotechnical aspects of algorithms, yet to our knowledge, there has been little empirical work in this area.
