The guarding of the cutting means is covered in 19.101, 19.102 and 19.103. Ground contacting parts (e.g. wheels) are considered not to be hazardous and are not required to be guarded.All openings and safety distances shall conform to 4.2.4.1 and 4.2.4.3 of ISO 13857:2019 unless otherwise specified in this document.Protective enclosures, covers, guards and the like shall have adequate mechanical strength for their intended purpose. It shall not be possible to touch power-driven hazardous parts with this test probe.NOTE 101 In the United States of America, the following additional requirements apply.A protective shield of a lawnmower shall have sufficient strength and resilience to sustain forces associated with reasonably foreseeable misuse during operation.Compliance is checked by the following test.A 222 N static tensile force is to be uniformly distributed over not less than half the length of the shield. The force shall be applied for at least 10 s in the direction which produces the maximum stress on the shield.
