HIPEC comprises perfusion of intraperitoneal chemotherapy, heated to 42–43 °C to eradicate microscopic disease. There are several methods of intraperitoneal chemotherapy currently in use: early postoperative intraperitoneal chemotherapy (EPIC), sequential postoperative intraperitoneal chemotherapy (SPIC), and HIPEC which is the most commonly used method for CRC with PM. HIPEC techniques are heterogeneous since not only the combination ofconcentration of drugs can be modified, but also the composition and the volume of the perfusion, as well as the duration and the temperature.
