South Korea's Daelim Industrial will keep its 150,000 mt/year metallocene linear low density unit in Yeosu shut until December for expansion work, a company source said Sept. 24. It plans to expand capacity to 400,000 mt/year, up from the current capacity of 150,000 mt/year. Daelim will continue to run its 300,000 mt/year high density polyethylene plant on the same site, the source added. The expansion is a welcome news for the Asian market, which is under a deficit by around 13-14 million mt/year of PE, according to Platts Analytics.
