In Leo Strauss's view, the natural right has two meanings, one is the classical sense of the natural right, that is, natural correctness, natural legitimacy, classical natural justice, and the other refers to the modern sense of natural right (sometimes he also directly uses natural right to express), that is, since the 17th century, the modern Western "natural rights" or "gift concept" said and brought about by the "historical concept" and so on. In his view, the second sense of natural rights with the concept of "progress or not" is diluting the traditional "good and bad" concept, this modern Western natural right theory is a crisis.
