To conduct cross-domain maneuver, SUASs require R&S capabilities that meet the range and duration requirements associated with each echelon from squad to battalion. This requires capabilities that are effective when each echelon capability is employed in isolation at the lowest level and is optimized when used as an integrated network informing higher echelons. Based on the MDO concept, SUASs require enhanced capabilities to facilitate movement and maneuver over a widely dispersed area across a broad spectrum of operations. Mission planning includes greater R&S demands, ranges, and time endurance requirements. Employing this strategy enables the future force to meet these requirementsby overcoming the following formation gaps with the subsequent required capabilities.
