Abstract: This article introduces the catalytic synthesis of dibutyl phthalate from phthalic anhydride and n-butanol using a low eutectic solvent. The effects of solvent type, solvent amount, catalyst type, and alcohol anhydride ratio on the esterification rate were investigated, and the optimal conditions for the low eutectic solvent catalyzed esterification reaction were determined. When the molar ratio of choline chloride to propylene glycol was 1:1 and the total mass was 15 grams, the low eutectic solvent was used as the reaction medium, Experimental conditions and results for the synthesis of dibutyl phthalate catalyzed by DES. After experimental optimization, the optimal conditions were as follows: reaction temperature of 200 ℃, reaction time of 1.5h-1, amount of catalyst sodium bisulfate of 1.5%, alcohol anhydride ratio of 3:1. At this time, DBP purity was 99.85%, and esterification rate was 98.73%. This method has the characteristics of green and efficient, and has optimized and expanded the catalyst, which can be used for large-scale production of dibutyl phthalate.
