The weak rock mass (bed) refers to the bedrock whose strength and elastic modulus of its internal material can not meet the requirements of stability and deformation of the dam foundation. Because the concrete gravity dam maintains its stability through its self-weight, when the foundation of the dam is soft rock, it is not enough to bear the weight of the gravity dam, which is prone to deformation and damage, resulting in water infiltration into the soft rock foundation, thus increasing the water pressure on the dam. Due to the destruction of foundation and the increase of uplifting pressure, the foundation bearing capacity of the dam is not enough, which easily leads to the instability of the dam, thus causing a series of problems.
