Phosphorus is an essential mineral nutrient element for plants, which plays an important role in the process of plant growth. However, the content of available phosphorus in soil is usually low, and the phosphorus fertilizer applied to soil is easy to be adsorbed and fixed as insoluble organic phosphorus, which can not be directly absorbed and utilized by plants. Root exudates play an important role in soil phosphorus transformation, which is an important strategy for plants to adapt to low phosphorus. Under the condition of low phosphorus, plant roots directly or indirectly affect the transformation of soil phosphorus by secreting organic acids, acid phosphatase, protons and sugars, so as to improve the availability of soil phosphorus. In this paper, the changes of plant root exudates under low phosphorus and the mechanism of different root exudates on the transformation of soil phosphorus were reviewed. The mechanism of plant root exudates on the transformation of soil phosphorus under low phosphorus was revealed, which is of great significance for further understanding of plant low phosphorus adaptation strategy.<br>
