Wajnryb’s (2003) storied classroom, or the creation of a community in a language learning class, is an anticipated outcome of using personal stories in the classroom. Wajnryb identified a duality in the relationship between storytelling and classroom cohesiveness, suggesting that lear- ners’ stories establish interpersonal and intrapersonal connections and ‘furnish the curriculum with a rich source of interpersonal material that accommodates and addresses the social impulse to interact’ (p. 159).
