The RoleThe failure analysis team’s mission at GF Shanghai is to determine root cause and contributing factors to improve the overall efficiency of Tesla factories and to improve customer experience of Tesla’s products. The team has large cross-section with other engineering colleagues. Team members are responsible for a wide variety of vehicle and energy product systems for existing models and models in development. This is a high visibility individual contributor role that includes extensive hands-on work focused on failure analysis and root cause activities. We are seeking engineering intern who will support our daily work of identifying and characterizing failure on HV electronics, and most importantly, improve the work efficiency by developing debugging tools. The successful candidate will work directly with other experienced engineers to perform debug, rework, and root cause analysis on Tesla products and contribute to accelerate the process.Responsibilities• Debug complex analog and digital electrical systems• Support root cause analysis from issue identification to countermeasure implementation.• Use analytical tools and techniques including Functional Testing, Electrical Debug, and others• Execute experiments to test theories about failure cause.• Design/Build/Optimize debugging tools to improve work efficiencyRequirementsMUST• Pursing Electrical Engineering degree preferred (Not Required)• Demonstrate solid background in engineering and first principle thinking• Proficient to program with python is a MUST.• Proficient at reading schematics and debugging analog and digital circuitry• Experience working with tools such as Power Supplies, Oscilloscopes, Function Generator, etc• Experience at soldering and rework on complex boards• Knowledge with common digital communication protocols (I2C, CAN, etc)PREFERRED• Experience with common failure analysis techniques and methods preferred• Experience with battery is a plus
