A scope change is any instruction, finding, condition or occurrence that results or may
result in the need for FW to perform its work or produce a product in a manner that is
different to that originally envisaged and agreed with the Client. Such a change may be
as simple as the addition of another stage to a manufacturing unit or as complex as a
request to lower the Client’s long-term maintenance costs.
Scope changes can, if not guarded against, be self-imposed as would be the proverbial
case of designing a Rolls-Royce when what was called for in the contract was a Ford.
