To separate corn oil from corn kernels, the germ portion of the corn first isseparated from the rest of the kernel by milling; then the oil is separated from the germby applying high pressure to the germ in an oil press. Similarly, pressure is used tosqueeze oil out of peanuts, soybeans, and cottonseeds. The last traces of oil can beremoved from the pressed cake by the use of fat solvents. There then remains thseparation of the oil from the solvent.
