Maternal toxicity was evident at 6 mg/kg/day by decreased body weight gain, food consumption, and abortions. The number of resorptions and post-implantation loss were increased at 9 mg/kg/day compared to controls.Embryo-fetal death, skeletal and visceral malformations were observed at all doses.Embryo-fetal malformations included domed head, minimal or severe dilation of the lateral ventricles of the brain (9 mg/kg/day), persistent truncus arteriosus of the great vessels (≥ 3 mg/kg/day), ventricular septum defect of the heart (≥ 3 mg/kg/day), misshapen anterior fontanelle of the skull (9 mg/kg/day) and moderate enlargement of the fontanelles of the skull (≥ 3 mg/kg/day).
