Administration of intraventricular tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) led to a quicker resolution of hydrocephalus with decreased rate of obstruction of ventricular access device necessitating replacement [7], and significantly decreased the rate of shunting in patients with IVH following nontraumatic SAH [22]. Radiological detection of possible pathological effects of IVH on brain tissuecouldbedemonstrated byMR fluidattenuatedinversionrecovery sequence (FLAIR) findings associated with IVH, which fail to resolve after clot evacuation. Thiscould indicateapathological effect ofIVHon ventricular wall cellular components similar to that observed in animal models [18].
