The third type of spatial access is imaginative. Narratives frequently use spaces that are physically and perceptually inaccessible as sites where imagination is given rein. A good example of the ways in which imaginative space can be used by a narrative is the “Golden Country” of 1984, a space that actually shuttles between being imaginatively- and physically accessible.
