Extensive studies on tacit-knowledge sharing have focused onsocial perspectives. Staples and Webster (2008) argued that frequentand close social interactions between team members contributeto tacit-knowledge sharing. Koskinen et al. (2003) found thatface-to-face interaction facilitated tacit-knowledge sharing throughsocial interactions (e.g., language, mutual trust, and proximity).Ryan and O’Connor (2009) developed the Team Tacit KnowledgeMeasure (TTKM) for software teams. Their study illustrated theconcept of tacit knowledge and analyzed the role that social interactionplays in tacit-knowledge sharing. According to their study, tacit knowledge is acquired and shared directly through highqualitysocial interactions. Thus, the frequency of interactions indirectlyassists with the acquisition and sharing of tacit knowledge.
