In this paper, the transesterification of soybean oil and palm oil with methanol using NaOH as catalyst was studied. The effects of catalyst dosage, stirring speed, reaction time and reaction temperature on the transesterification of soybean oil and palm oil were studied by single factor experiments. The conversion of raw oil and the yield of biodiesel were measured by gas chromatography. Through experiments, the optimal conditions of soybean oil transesterification are: catalyst dosage 1.1%, stirring speed 400 rpm, reaction time 60 min, reaction temperature 60 ℃; Palm Oil Transesterification: catalyst dosage 0.5%, stirring speed 700 rpm, reaction time 60 min, reaction temperature 50 ℃.
Key words: soybean oil; palm oil; homogeneous alkali NaOH catalyst; transesterification; biodiesel
