This was a crazy year for the manufactured, modular and prefab home industry with new challenges that I haven't seen before. The year was a perfect storm of building material increases, shortages and demand that all put upward pressure on pricing. The cost of almost everything in our daily life increase and the price of a new manufactured home was no exception. The demand and shortage of production is leading to massive expansion by not only the big players in the industry but also brand new companies new to factory built housing. The increased prices are also changing not only how homes are built but what is available (floor plans, options, ability to customize). I think we'll see more new companies in 2022 along with changes inside current factories in an attempt to increase both production and affordability.
