1.3. Limitations: There are a number of limitations associated with the use of the cleaning procedures, including:1.3.1. Adequate cleaning requires a proper combination of cleaning practices, such as degreasing, acid etching, acid cleaning and rinsing, etc. The choice and optimization of these practices shall be based on the knowledge of the materials to be cleaned and of the type of contaminants to be removed. The cleaning process is only effective to reduce the levels of surface contaminants, such as particles, ionic contaminants and some hydrocarbons that are introduced during the fabrication process of components. The process will not remove any impurities incorporated in the materials.1.3.2. The cleaning process may manifest any cosmetic imperfections, such as grain structures in the materials and machining patterns, etc.1.3.3. Each recipe included in this specification is dedicated for each type of materials and shall not be applied for components made of various different materials.1.3.4. The cleaning processes shall be used with cautions for components with plating or coatings. The chemicals used in various recipes may damage or degrade plating or coatings.1.3.5. The cleaning recipes included in this specification may not be effective in removing contaminants entrapped in crevices between holes and installed hardware, which become sources of micro-contamination.
