The base of this bowl depicts symbols glazed in red against a white background and encircled by a pink, green and white design. Their oval silhouettes contrast against the geometric red and yellow pattern which the lay against. This pattern is remarkable in the method in which it was created which borrows from the famille jaune style of painting. The yellow glaze has been incised and covered with an intricate red line pattern. This pattern is capped at the rim and base by cloud motif which is mirrored. The base rim of the bowl has been left unglazed and its interior well has a yellow ground accompanied by and illustration in the center. The interior well and walls are coated in a single organic pattern which begins in the center. Composed of green, pink and yellow it is set against a saturated red background and has details painted in gold. The inner rim of the bowl has a simple cloud motif which is painted in the same gold which lines the rim of the bowl.
