Such kinetic factors and the deformation by impingement can bc ruled out if the shape of solid-liquid interface is determinod from the liquid which is trapped in a grain. In the absence of any constraints, the equilibrium shape of a condensed phase surrounded by another phase will not be a function of which phase is the surrounding phase. Therefore, the equilihrium shape of a solid grain surrounded by a liquid will be the same as that of a liquid in a solid grain. Such a liquid trapped inside a grain was investigated in the first experimental series.
