The front wheels of wheeled, rear discharge rotary lawnmowers fitted with a grass catchershall remain on the supporting surface under normal operating conditions.Compliance is checked by the following test. – 70 – IEC 62841-4-3:2020 © IEC 2020Prior to the test, the grass catcher is filled to its maximum volumetric capacity with material of density (150 ± 10) kg/m3. The opening in the grass catcher is sealed with a lightweight material to retain the contents during the test.As an alternative to filling the grass catcher to its maximum volumetric capacity with a material of (150 ± 10) kg/m3 density, an equivalent mass may be positioned and secured inside the grass catcher at its volumetric centre of gravity. The machine is placed on a hard flat horizontal surface. The guards are in the normal operating position on the cutting means enclosure and the machine support members are in contact with the supporting surface. The test is conducted with the machine and the cutting means stationary. The tests are carried out with the cutting means and adjustable handles in the most unfavourable configuration in accordance with 8.14.2 b).A mass of (100 ± 5) g is attached to the most unfavourable left-hand grasping surface and simultaneously a mass of (100 ± 5) g is attached to the most unfavourable right-hand grasping surface of the handle(s) as identified in 8.14.2 b).The test is conducted with the most unfavourable battery in accordance with K.8.14.2 e) 2). The grass catcher is attached to the machine in accordance with 8.14.2.There shall be no lift-off of both front wheels. Lift-off occurs when a gap of at least 10 mm is measured between each front wheel and the hard flat horizontal surface.K.19.102.5.5 Test procedureAddition:During the test, the battery shall be replaced with a fully charged battery as needed in order to maintain the speed of the cutting means to be not less than 90 % of maximum speed. The test may be conducted with the machine powered by an external power source maintained at the nominal voltage of the battery, provided a suitable replacement part that simulates the mass of the battery is fitted to the machine during the test.
